About My Public Eye — Marion County, FL
My Public Eye covers the meetings, votes, and budget decisions of local government in Marion County, Florida. Our goal is simple: to make it easy for residents to know what their elected boards actually did.
How we work. We start from official public records — the county’s Granicus meeting recordings, the agendas and minutes in Legistar, and the official record of votes. We use AI tools to transcribe those recordings and prepare a first draft of each recap. A human editor then reviews and verifies every article against the source — checking each vote, dollar figure, and name — and cross-checks the vote tallies against the clerk’s official record before anything is published. Where a recording exists, we include links that jump you to the exact moment in the meeting, so you can see for yourself.
What we cover, and what we don’t. We report what happened on the public record: what was proposed, who said what, how members voted, and what it costs. We do not publish opinion, endorsements, or investigations, and we don’t characterize anyone’s motives. If you want the facts of the meeting, that’s what we’re here for.
Independence. My Public Eye is independent. We are not affiliated with any government body, developer, civic organization, or other news outlet.
Corrections. We will make mistakes, and we want to fix them fast. If you spot an error, email office@mypubliceye.com with the article and the detail in question, and we’ll correct the record promptly and note the correction.
